Faculty Instructional Web Site Award

October 3, 2003 by Dana Roode

NACS’s Instructional Web Technologies (IWT) congratulates Professor Ann Van Sant for receiving the Web Site of the Year award!

Professor Van Sant, from English & Comparative Literature, was awarded the 2003 Web Site of the Year award on May 29, 2003 at the annual “Celebration of Teaching” awards ceremony conducted by the Division of Undergraduate Education.

The award was presented to Professor Van Sant by Shohreh Bozorgmehri, Manager of IWT.

Professor Van Sant has carefully created extraordinarily rich Web sites for her students. Her English 102B, Restoration and Revolution, which is a requirement for English majors, covers the forty-year period from 1660, the restoration of the British monarchy, to 1700, the decade after the “Glorious Revolution.”

The Web site offers visual images of gorgeous paintings to illustrate the subject matter. It brings wealth of electronic information, resources, links and materials to her students at the click of a mouse for those who need a little more.

NACS awarded her $1000 toward the purchase of computer hardware, equipment, and software products in support of teaching with technology.

Instructional Web Technologies

February 22, 2002 by Dana Roode

The Electronic Educational Environment (EEE) is a collaboration among the UCI Libraries, the Division of Undergraduate Education, the Registrar, and Network & Academic Computing Services (NACS).

The group within NACS which participates in EEE has changed its name to Instructional Web Technologies (IWT). This change will more accurately reflect IWT’s mission of supporting the instructional use of technology, as one component of EEE.

The IWT group is managed by Shohreh Bozorgmehri. Staff members Eric Carter and Briandy Walden provide direct support to faculty and instructors who use technology for their courses. In addition, they maintain and develop the EEE website (http://eee.uci.edu/), serving all UCI instructors and students. David Pritikin is responsible for instructional technology training and client support.

New EEE Tool

February 22, 2002 by Dana Roode

IWT added a new tool for Winter 2002 to the many resources available on the EEE website. The new “Evaluations” tool, developed in cooperation with the Division of Undergraduate Education, allows instructors to gain valuable and immediate feedback from students regarding in-class instruction. The use of web-based forms and real-time data analysis gives instructors the opportunity to address student concerns while a class is still meeting. The Evaluations tool is available in the Instructor’s Toolbox.

Instructional Web Resources

June 1, 2001 by Dana Roode

Did you know UCI faculty can establish a Course Web Site using EEE?

EEE is UCI’s Electronic Educational Environment, a campus wide collaborative effort among the Division of Undergraduate Education, Network and Academic Computing Services, the UCI libraries, and the Registrar/SAIS. EEE offers faculty a variety of services for using the Web in instruction. The EEE Web site can be found at eee.uci.edu. It provides a list of UCI course web sites and a variety of communication and web site administration tools.

Bring your course materials to the Web and your site will appear on your students’ EEE Resource Page. EEE currently provides two ways for instructors to post course materials to the web.

EZE3 (http://eee.uci.edu/toolbox/eze3/)

Create a Course Web Page the EZ way. A simple form lets you choose contents, cut-and-paste information and select colors. You can update this page as often as you wish.

Register (http://eee.uci.edu/toolbox/register/)

Request unlimited space on EEE. Upload web pages you create on your computer. Get web pages located on another server listed on EEE or crosslink courses using the same web space.

For any questions about how to use EEE resources please contact EEE support team at eee@uci.edu or 824-8505
